Work is to be carried out on the Southampton Cenotaph in Watts Park.
Glass panels will be erected next to the Cenotaph, with the names of the soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War which have begun to fade on the monument itself. An extra 1200 names of service personnel who have died in more recent conflicts will be also etched onto the panels.
It is hoped that all will be completed in time for Armistice Day on November 11th - the 90th anniversary of the unveiling of the original cenotaph which was designed by Lutyens.
Heavy traffic predicted for Saturday's visit of four Cruise Liners.
Also preparations going ahead for the Southampton Boat Show to start later this month.

A Southampton Hackney Association member can recall when his parents sold raffle tickets on behalf of the Southampton Lions at this boat show.
"It won't last long", they said. Here we are forty two years later and it's still going strong........What an achievement.

The travelling general public in Southampton need to feel safe and secure at all times. All Southampton Licensed Taxis have a corporate colour of White
In the year 2000, a Transport Package was introduced by Southampton City Council to promote public safety.
Having a corporate colour enables customers to identify a Southampton Taxi and gives our City a better image !
Also included within this package was the ability to have 35% of advertising on a vehicle, so even if a taxi has sign writing on it - feel safe to get in, as long as the red licensed plate is on the back of the cab and the driver is displaying his licence badge. See southamptontaxis.org for full details.....................
