According to Southampton City Council's Licensing Department, there is not a survey taking place on the ranks, to see if there are enough white taxis.
So who are these men with clipboards ?
It is not rocket science to work out who they are !!
Southampton Hackney Taxi Association white taxis can be found as you disembark from your Isle of Wight ferry.
Find our taxi rank at Town Quay outside Red Jet Terminal (IOW), or Terminus Terrace, near to Oxford Street :O)

When you go to a nightclub in our City, hopefully you will have an enjoyable evening. Please make sure that you use the White Southampton Licensed Taxis to get you home safely.
It does not matter what taxi company or driver you chose or what sign writing is on the cab - all drivers should have their licensed badge on display - to make you feel safe and secure and take you to your destination.
To ease the congestion of the white taxi's queuing at London Road and Bedford Place area, could drivers please remember to service the taxi rank at Leisure World on a Friday and Saturday night ?
The three taxi trade organisations in our City have had further meetings with Management & Security at Oceana and we are all trying to work together to implement the ''Get Home Safe Scheme''.
We must support the night time venue's in the Leisure World complex.

The Southampton Hackney Association (SHA), Unite Union and the Southampton Trade Associaiton (STA) met with Management from Oceana nightlclub and head of security on Friday 14th October 2011.
A compromise was achieved and the private hire company that is operating from there on a Friday and Saturday night will be moved out of sight of the public and therefore unable to tout for work.
The three trade associations will be meeting with Management again in four weeks time.
It is important that the Southampton white taxis are at Leisure World between the hours of 1AM and 3AM to take customers away from the venue as quickly and safely as possible.
Many topics were talked about at the Friday meeting - regular consultation is top of the list.
The Southampton white taxi's have given a good service to Leisure World since it opened and may they continue to do so particularly at the weekends.

White taxis can always be found waiting at the taxi ranks ready to take you safely to your destination.
All Southampton Hackney Carriage Taxi Cab drivers are licensed to pick up passengers from the ranks, there is no need to pre-book.
The two abbreviations "Soton" and "Sotonian" were invented by Clarence Firbank Carr, possibly the most dynamic editor of the Southern Echo.
CFC as he was known, was the Editor of The Echo in 1941 and introduced these two words to assist writers who might struggle with Southampton and Southamptonian when preparing an article.
He had a very powerful impact on his paper and on local affairs. He died in 1979, aged 87 years.
